Foot Case 6 History/Physical Exam

Charcot Foot

History and Physical Exam

Presentations vary. However, a typical presentation would be sudden onset of unilateral warmth, redness and edema over the foot or ankle with a history of minor trauma. The arch collapse gives the Charcot foot the characteristic "rocker foot" deformity. Pain is remarkably less than would be suggested from physical exam and radiography.
