Hand Case 9 Diagnosis

Standard hand radiographs (AP/lateral/oblique) with a true lateral of the 1^st carpometacarpal joint make the diagnosis. The true lateral of the 1^st CMC joint allows more accurate evaluation of metacarpal displacement, the size and position of the volar fragment, and the gap between the fragment and metacarpal base, which may affect whether surgery is indicated
