Spine Case 12 History/Physical Exam

Sacral Fracture

History and Physical Exam

Most sacral fractures occur from indirect forces through the pelvis or lumbar spine, like in a motor vehicle collision. However, some are caused by direct trauma, like a direct blow from a fall.

These patients often present with pelvic pain, posterior sacral bony prominence, or palpable subcutaneous swelling.
