Pelvis/Hip Case 3 Background

Most hip dislocations seen in the ED are either:

• Dislocation of a normal hip from severe trauma

• Dislocation of a prosthetic hip from minimal to no traumatic mechanism.

Posterior dislocations account for about 90% of hip dislocations.
