Anterior Shoulder Dislocation

Background

The glenohumeral joint is the most commonly dislocated major joint. The mechanism commonly is an indirect force transferred to the anterior capsule from a combination of abduction, extension, and external rotation. This is often a sports-related injury or from a fall on an outstretched hand (FOOSH).
