Pediatrics Case 8 Background
A Toddler fracture is a spiral fracture of the tibia. This generally occurs between the ages of 9 months and 3 years. It is typically a low impact, twisting mechanism, most commonly during running, tripping, or falling.
While spiral fractures elsewhere in children are concerning for non-accidental trauma, the Toddler fracture is a common fracture pattern in non-abuse scenarios.
