Pelvis/Hip Case 9 History/Physical
Pubic Rami Fracture
The most classic scenario is a ground level fall in an elderly patient. Other low impact mechanisms may occur, like minor MVCs. Rarely, these fractures can also be seen as stress fractures in young women or pregnant patients [3].
On physical exam, the patient will have tenderness to palpation at the point of injury, often in the inguinal area. They may be able to bear weight, but pain commonly limits this. Neurovascular exam should be intact.
