Shoulder Case 4 ED Management
Calcific Tendonitis
ED Management
Standard management consists of NSAIDS and non-emergent orthopedic follow-up. In severe cases, short term sling immobilization as well as narcotic analgesia may be necessary. Steroid injection at this time is controversial. If intractable pain persists at orthopedic follow up, further options include extracorporeal shock wave therapy, needle aspiration of the calcification, and surgical excision.
