Calcific Tendonitis


History and Physical Exam

Patients present with subacute pain with shoulder range of motion, particularly at 60-120 degrees of flexion and abduction, when the calcification rubs against the acromion. In a minority of cases, the calcification causes significant local inflammation and a patient may present with an acutely painful, warm joint, resembling septic arthritis.
